Special Dark – Munich Larger Winter Season
Dunkel (German for Dark) is a specialty of Bavaria, Germany. It’s origin dates back to the 14th century. It was perfected by monks of the local Benedictine monasteries and is renowed in Germany and beyond.
Dunkel is characterized by it’s smooth, full, malty flavour, mahogany brown colour and roast aroma with a hint of dark chocolate. Under the creamy mocca-coloured head beats a strong Munich heart of finest barley malt.
It is a soft and elegant lager, with a rich, mildly vanilla, nuttysweet palate and a dry, rounded finish. Though it looks much like a British Dark Ale or Porter, but unlike these brews, Dunkel has a typicallly clean lager taste without any fruitiness at all. Cascade aroma hops adds a touch of West Coast magic to this magnificent decoction.
