If the two most refreshing things about summertime got together in a glass, it would be rosé lemonade! Made with our Cru International French Rosé – this cocktail may be all you’ll want to drink this summer.
For the lemonade:
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
- 1 cup cold water
For the rest:
- Combine the water and sugar in a small saucepan.
- Bring to a boil and stir to dissolve the sugar. Let cool.
- Add the fresh lemon juice and water to the sugar mixture and stir to dissolve.
- Refrigerate until cold.
- Before serving, mix the lemonade with the rosé wine.
- Divide between two glasses and serve.
Take everything you love about your favourite bottle of rosé, and now imagine it packed into a delicious gummy! It gets better; they’re surprisingly easy-to-make and even easier to enjoy! This recipe makes approximately 60 gummies (which may seem like a lot!) but they will go fast –especially if you bring them to the office or plan to make these as gifts. These gummies also keep well, so if there are any leftovers you don’t have to worry about storing them properly or freezing them, they’ll just hang out on your counter top to nibble for as long as they last.
- 1 cup rosé
- ½ cup sugar
- 2 pkg unflavoured gelatin
- 1 drop red food colouring (optional)
- Sugar for coating
- In a medium saucepan, stir together the rosé and sugar and sprinkle the gelatin overtop; let stand for a few minutes to soften.
- Set over medium high heat and bring to a simmer, stirring until the sugar and gelatine are dissolved.
- Stir in a drop of food colouring if it’s not quite pink enough.
- Pour into a loaf pan (or small silicone candy moulds, if you have them) and refrigerate until firm.
- Cut into small 1/2-inch cubes and roll in a shallow dish of sugar to coat.
With spring in full swing, it’s easier than ever to gather a group of friends for a wine tasting party! Learning about wine and developing your own preferences, does not have to be work. Put down the textbook. Abandon the lecture hall. And start having fun with wine! The idea is to taste a group of wines together – allowing you to compare them. Simply follow these easy steps to organize your party:
- Choose a theme: everyone brings a bottle of craft wine – can be different varietals, or perhaps even the same varietal but different ages… let your imagination run wild!
- Invite your friends and have everyone bring a bottle that fits the theme!
- On the day of, put out some decent stemware with a few different cheeses, crackers and sliced baguette.
That’s it, no need to be more formal than that! And while tasting, discuss each wine in the simplest of terms:
- I like this (why?)
- I hate this (why?)
- I taste this
- When paired with the cheese, I taste this
At the end of the night, everyone will have probably found a wine or two that they really like. And you’ve had a great party!
Our cocktail of the month is an OB Appletini, using our Green Apple Delight wine. This delicious cocktail is not only delightful to sip – but will be refreshing on hot summer days to come!
Here is the cocktail recipe:
- 1 oz Orchard Breezin’ Green Apple Delight
- 1 oz apple schnapps
- 1 oz vodka
- In a cocktail shaker full of ice, combine apple schnapps, vodka and wine.
- Mix well.
- Pour into glasses and garnish with a slice of Granny Smith apple.

For Smaller Potted Plants:
- Find an empty wine bottle and wine cork.
- Clean the inside of the bottle.
- Optional: Remove the label. To remove the label, soak the bottle in warm, soapy water for 30 minutes – it should peel off relatively easily.
- Make a hole in the cork: Consider soaking it in hot water for 10 minutes. This may help prevent it from crumbling when you try to make a hole in it. Use a screwdriver to twist a screw into the cork. Make sure that the screw goes all the way through the cork, from top to bottom.
- Fill the bottle with cool water. You can also add some plant food into the water in the bottle at this point. Do not fill the bottle all the way; fill it up just to where it starts to narrow.
- Select your plant. If you have a very large plant, such as a tree, you may need to make a second bottle.
- Make sure that the soil is wet. If the soil is too dry, the water in your bottle will empty too quickly.
- Make a 2 inch deep hole in the soil where you want the bottle to go. If you don’t make the hole first, it may get forced into the bottle opening and create a clog.
- If you are going to use the bottle in a flowerpot, make the hole close to the edge of the pot. Try to make the hole at an angle, with the bottom pointing away from the pot’s rim. This will allow you to insert the bottle at an angle and rest the bottle against the edge of the pot.
- Turn the bottle upside down and insert it into the hole. Keep pushing the bottle until it won’t go in any further. The mouth of the bottle should be pressed firmly against the soil.
The EXTRA easy way for outdoor planters and large potted indoor plants:
It’s so easy. Just fill your bottle with water, skip the hole in the cork and stick it into your planter pot! You’ll want to push the bottle down in there at an angle until it won’t go down any further. Also the dryer your plant is, the faster it will soak up the water; so if you want your watering system to last for a little while -be sure to start by really soaking the soil well!
A Star Gazer is a soft and sweet cocktail comprised of vanilla, pineapple, dark rum, and your choice of white wine. This drink is best served on the rocks and the below recipe yields two drinks. We recommend using our En Primeur Winery Series Chilean Chardonnay, which is bursting with pineapple, melon and peach on the palate, and complements the other ingredients in this cocktail perfectly!
This recipe makes 2 cocktails
- 4 oz chardonnay (about 8 tbsp)
- 2 oz dark rum (about 4 tbsp)
- 1 oz vanilla sryup (about 2 tbsp)
- 2 oz pineapple juice (about 2 tbsp)
- 2 lime wedges
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add chardonnay, dark rum, vanilla syrup, and pineapple juice. Shake and strain into two glasses. Garnish with a lime wedge.

It will ferment for 4-8 weeks depending on the tier of kit you select, then the real fun begins when you get to bottle your wine! Schedule your bottling appointment for a time your entire team can attend. Everyone can take part in bottling, corking, labeling and putting shrinks on your bottles. Plus you can sample your wine as you work and you’ll be treated to some pairings.
Once done, show off your team’s wine at the office and maybe even launch a Thirsty Thursday or Friday Celebration at 4pm to celebrate. Serve your wine alongside some recommended food pairings by your retailer, and toast to team building and great times together!

Nothing says “I love you” quite like something made by you! Treat your sweetheart this Valentine’s Day to handmade craft wine and red wine truffles.
These truffles are the perfect, elegant end to an evening and are sweet and fruity with a complex red wine flavour – yum! We recommend using reds like our Winery Series Australian Cabernet Sauvignon, Chilean Merlot or our Cru International Chilean Malbec wines.
- 16 oz. milk chocolate, chopped coarsely
- 2/3 c. heavy cream
- 1/2 c. red wine, room temperature
- 1 TB unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 c. unsweetened cocoa powder (optional) OR
- 10 oz. melting chocolate
- In a medium bowl, heat the chocolate in the microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring each time until the chocolate is fully melted.
- In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream just until it starts to steam.
- Pour the heavy cream in the bowl with the melted chocolate and stir, slowly, until fully combined. If the chocolate starts to stiffen, microwave another 30 seconds as needed and continue stirring. This process can take a bit of time, so don’t worry if it doesn’t happen right away.
- Once the cream and chocolate are combined, slowly stir in the red wine and butter. Once fully mixed, cover tightly and let stand for 30 minutes at room temperature before transferring to the refrigerator. Chill until firm – at least 4-6 hours.
- Line a baking sheet with a silicon mat or parchment paper. Place the cocoa powder in a shallow bowl OR melt the melting chocolate according to manufacturer instructions.
- Scoop out rounded tablespoons of the chilled mixture and roll into a ball. Working quickly, coat it either in the cocoa powder or melted chocolate and shake off the excess before placing on the baking sheet.
- Keep chilled until ready to serve.
